Walking to raise money for BackCare

Enthusiastic walkers donned their best walking shoes with high spirits to take part in a 14 mile sponsored walk to raise money for BackCare.

 Walking to raise money for BackCareConsultant neurosurgeon, James Kellerman and pain management consultant Victor Mendis joined the rest of the group on the walk that took them from the heart of Chelmsford to a hospital in Brentwood to raise £850.

 Caroline Goodey, who works for the Chelmsford Medical Centre, said: “It was such a lovely day, everyone had high spirits and they were all so surprised at how quickly they are able to complete the walk, which just goes to show how good walking is for backs.”

 The walk started at Chelmsford Medical Centre and from there they then followed the old A12 through Margaretting, Ingatestone, Mountnessing and Shenfield to finish at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood where they received a welcome sports massage.

 Dr. Mendis, said: “We all enjoyed the day and are pleased to have been able to support BackCare in the run up to BackCare Awareness Week which started on October 10.”

 The walk also signified the launch of a new pain and spine clinic by the two consultants offering by the two consultants offering diagnosis and treatment to back pain sufferers.
