There are many more treatments and therapies for back pain.

Besides the treatments and therapies already mentioned in this section, there are many more. People have estimated that there are more than 200 different treatments offered for back pain. BackCare will continue to make more information available on the treatments and therapies not yet listed here.

For now you are advised to try to answer the following questions when considering seeking treatment for back pain.

  1. Is there any scientific evidence that shows the treatment is effective and safe? Where available, BackCare uses scientific information for most of the information we provide.
  2. Who performs the treatment? Is s/he registered with a regulatory body? If not, is s/he adequately qualified to perform the treatment?
  3. What are the possible benefits, the possible risks and the costs of the treatment? When making a decision you will have to weigh these three.
  4. Is the treatment on offer appropriate for my condition and my circumstances?
  5. Can you get information and advice on the treatment on offer from multiple sources?
  6. Have you spoken with anyone who has tried the treatment on offer? This may give you a better insight in what to expect.
