A new edition of the BackCare charity’s most popular and successful guide for the moving of people being cared for is now available to buy.
The Carer’s Guide 3rd Edition has been extensively revised by Fife Moving & Handling for Family Carers Project Group, consisting of representatives from: PAMIS, Fife Princess Royal Trust Carers Centre, Fife Council and NHS Fife (OHSAS) in consultation with nine family carers and BackCare.
The contents have been expanded to include the latest statistics on UK carers, organisations providing support to carers, as well as basic information on core stability and posture, and national guidance on safer moving and handling.
Additional illustrations are used, including a room by room guide providing tips on adaptions to environment and useful equipment, and some of the new types of equipment now available and things carers need to consider before purchasing equipment.
The guide will be an invaluable help for unpaid or family carers who have received little or no professional training.
