Swimming at Braidburn Special Needs Pool.
|
The Swimming Club will not meet during the school holiday.
Our last swim at Braidburn will be Wednesday 22nd December, and we are due to resume on Wednesday 19th January 2010 |
The Swimming Club is open only to BackCare members, and is on every Wednesday during the school term from 5.45pm – 6.45pm.
If you wish to try this out, just turn up and make yourself known to the lifeguard who will introduce you to other members and show you where to go. The pool water temperature is consistently c.34°C that is ideal for relaxation, water exercise and gentle swimming. The pool is spacious and never crowded. There is a fully qualified lifeguard in attendance, and arrangements can be made for an occasional visit by a physiotherapist to advise on suitable exercise for different back problems. We provide some neck collars and swimming rings as flotation aids. There are showers and separate changing rooms for men and women. Access to this pool is by stainless steel steps attached to the pool wall, or by sitting on the raised pool surround at the shallow end, and slipping into the water, which is very shallow at this point. There is plenty of parking space at the school. Access by public transport involves a ten minute walk.
Sessions cost £4.00 per hour, paid in advance over the academic year which is split into blocks of 6 – 9 weeks to spread the cost of payment.
As with the Hydrotherapy pool, after an initial trial, it will be necessary to become a BackCare member.
Details of rates including, some concessions, are available from the branch.
